Immigration Simulation

Hello parents of 6th graders.

On Thursday the 20th, our students will go through Ellis Island (located for this occasion in our B Gym).

Students should come dressed-up to play their part:
Boys can wear dark pants, preferably dark shoes, white shirt, a dark suit jacket or a vest, and mostly a hat / cap. Girls can wear long skirts and a white blouse, shawls or scarves. Hair can be braided or in a bun. Anything that will remind late 1800's or early 1900's.

Don't forget to bring a piece of luggage: a big basket, a very old leather looking suitcase, a sac made of cloth, or just a small blanket rolled-up and held with ropes or belts.

We will do the activity during 3rd and 4th period to be with the other 6th graders. Students can dress-up at school + leave their luggage in my room during 1st period.

Thank you to all who volunteered to make this fun activity possible.

Check you grades!

Students and parents, check your grades in Synergy through Student Vue. Make sure to click on Tri 3 final + on Standards. You can expand the standards (top left) to see all assignments.

Below is the District's scoring range (Proficiency), that I will follow. If a letter grade is needed at the end of the term, I can either use the scale I created but was not able to use the first two terms (Average Grade), or will have to follow the District's scale (Grades for Proficiencies). There is some discrepancy between the two (a little easier to get an A, but easier to get a C and lower).
